As a researcher, I am interested in studying the linguistic and embodied practices locally mobilized by participants for organizing social activity in complex material ecologies within professional and ordinary settings, based on the detailed examination of video recordings within an ethnomethodological and conversation analytical approach.
In 2019 I have obtained my PhD in Linguistics from the University of Basel with a dissertation examining the sequential and multimodal organization of service encounters between social workers and citizens in different social intervention settings in Portugal, with a special concern with how participants make sense of problematic situations and plan institutional intervention. Further to that, I collaborated in a Portuguese multi-disciplinary research project examining how end-of-life care and trajectories are managed through and throughout interactions between palliative care professionals, patients and relatives.
Since February 2026 I am a postdoc researcher in the project “Making Bones Talk: A Multimodal Interactional Perspective on Language, Bodies, Materialities and Knowledge at Work in a Forensic Lab” (PI: Prof. Lorenza Mondada & Prof. Fernanda Miranda da Cruz) examining how teamwork is carried out at the forensics lab.
