Mari Sarv is a senior researcher at the Estonian Folklore Archives of the Estonian Literary Museum. Her main focus of research has been language and poetics of Finnic oral poetry (runosong). Her PhD dissertation (2008) analyses the metrical variation in Estonian runosong. She has been one of the creators of Estonian Runosong Database, and in her research she has used the merits of computational analysis as much as possible. She has been leading several research projects at the Estonian Folklore Archives, published two books and edited several article collections on runosong, and organized numerous conferences on runosong and traditional singing, digital humanities and matters of tradition archives.
